My Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy centers on the integration of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT). While these concepts are distinct, they complement each other and enhance the classroom experience. Through CRT, I aim to create healthy learning environments where all students feel valued, respected, and supported, regardless of their cultural backgrounds.

This approach allows me to make diverse cultures relevant in the curriculum, providing students with relatable content. As Laura E. Pinto notes in From Discipline to Culturally Responsive Engagement: 45 Classroom Management Strategies, cultural responsiveness encompasses professional, political, cultural, and ethical dispositions that extend beyond teaching. Ultimately, the goal is to help all students succeed.
